Executive Board

Purpose and Position 

We are the Fairfax Coalition of Police; International Union of Police Associations, Local 5000.  The FCOP is a labor union formed in Fairfax, Virginia in 1990 to represent non-management employees, including active and retired police officers, first-line supervisors, animal control officers, Police Citizen Aides and civilian employees assigned to the Fairfax County Police Department.

The FCOP now represents a mainstream membership of over 700 members.

The FCOP has worked hard to establish effective relationships and a reputation for trustworthiness, professionalism and fiscal responsibility. We believe in doing the right thing for our members and for the community.  We believe that the most effective way to accomplish our goals is to work cooperatively with the Board of Supervisors, the Police Department and the citizens of Fairfax County.

Local 5000’s efforts are focused on officer Health and Safety, Pay and Benefits, Administrative Investigations and Discipline, Command Staff and First-Line Supervision, Policy and Management, Legislation and Staffing.  The FCOP members are supported with life insurance, legal defense by retained attorneys, aid in workman’s compensation claims, officer survival and other specialized training, and assistance with administrative affairs.

The Fairfax Coalition of Police provides service to the community through our participation in many charitable activities and through our own outreach programs and youth literacy program.

The Local 5000 offers many benefits for joining but the most compelling reason to be a member is that standing with over 900 other members allows your voice to be heard inside and outside the Police Department.  Check out the Benefits Page for more details.
